Dear Sir and Madame (sorry I cannot remember your names)
I have been meaning to say for some time how pleased we were with the work you and your restorer did with the three paintings we inherited as well as framing the three small ones. They are all hanging up in our house now and look really good.
The picture of the old man reading the paper was my Great Grandfather. It was painted in 1949 by a man name Hannes Hammershmidt, who was a German Jew who escaped just before the 2nd World War and was befriended by the Jones’s family in Yorkshire. Mr Hammershmidt became quite an accomplished artist and his work was definitely exhibited in London (and elsewhere) I remember you telling me that the restorer told you that it had been in an exhibition.
Whether I ever met my great grandfather I doubt as the age difference would have been too great.
Sorry for boring you with this but I am so pleased we got these pictures restored, an especially the one of my grandfather as we almost throw it out!
